Make a rich, creamy, and dairy-free chocolate mousse using avocado as the base. This recipe is quick and requires no baking.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 ripe avocados
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup unsweetened plant milk (almond or soy)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Cut the avocados in half, remove the pits, and scoop the flesh into a food processor or high-speed blender.
  2. Add the cocoa powder, maple syrup, plant milk, vanilla extract, and salt to the food processor.
  3. Process the ingredients until completely smooth and creamy. Stop and scrape down the sides as needed to ensure no avocado chunks remain.
  4. Taste the mousse and adjust sweetness if necessary by adding more maple syrup.
  5. Divide the mousse into small serving dishes or ramekins.
  6. Chill the mousse in the refrigerator for at least 30 minutes before serving to allow it to firm up slightly.

Notes

  • Use very ripe avocados for the best texture and to mask any avocado flavor.
  • For a richer chocolate taste, use high-quality dark cocoa powder.
  • If you prefer a thicker mousse, reduce the amount of plant milk slightly.
  • Garnish with fresh berries or shaved dark chocolate before serving.
