Ingredients
Scale
6 bone-in, skin-on chicken thighs
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon paprika
1/4 cup honey
3 tablespoons soy sauce
2 tablespoons water
1 tablespoon sriracha or hot sauce (adjust to taste)
2 cloves garlic, minced
1 teaspoon grated fresh ginger
Instructions
Pat the chicken thighs completely dry using paper towels. This helps achieve crispy skin.
In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and paprika. Rub this mixture evenly over all surfaces of the chicken thighs.
Preheat your air fryer to 380 degrees Fahrenheit (195 degrees Celsius) for 5 minutes.
Place the chicken thighs in the air fryer basket in a single layer, ensuring they do not overlap. Work in batches if necessary.
Air fry for 15 minutes.
While the chicken cooks, prepare the sauce. In a small saucepan, combine the honey, soy sauce, water, sriracha, minced garlic, and ginger. Bring the mixture to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until slightly thickened, about 3 minutes. Remove from heat.
After the initial 15 minutes of cooking, flip the chicken thighs. Increase the air fryer temperature to 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
Air fry for another 5 to 8 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165 degrees Fahrenheit (74 degrees Celsius) and the skin is golden brown and crisp.
Brush the cooked chicken thighs generously with the prepared spicy honey garlic sauce.
Return the glazed chicken to the air fryer for 1 to 2 minutes to set the glaze. Watch carefully to prevent burning the honey.
Remove the chicken from the air fryer and serve immediately.
Notes
If you prefer boneless, skinless thighs, reduce the total cooking time by about 4 to 6 minutes.
For extra heat, add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the sauce mixture.
You can brush the sauce on during the last 5 minutes of cooking instead of glazing at the end, but this may cause more smoke in the air fryer.
