Prepare this simple, savory pan fried noodle dish in under 15 minutes. This recipe uses a basic soy sauce base, which you can easily customize with your preferred protein or vegetables.

  • 8 oz dried egg noodles or ramen noodles
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup sliced cabbage
  • 1/2 cup sliced carrots
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce (light)
  • 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 green onion, sliced for garnish

Instructions

  1. Cook the noodles according to package directions until just tender. Drain them well and set aside.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the minced garlic and stir fry for 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Add the cabbage and carrots to the skillet. Stir fry for 2 to 3 minutes until the vegetables begin to soften.
  5. Add the cooked and drained noodles to the skillet.
  6. Pour in the light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, sesame oil, and white pepper.
  7. Toss everything together quickly and continuously for 2 to 3 minutes until the noodles are evenly coated and heated through.
  8. Remove from heat. Garnish with sliced green onion before serving.

Notes

  • For added protein, stir fry 4 oz of sliced chicken, pork, or tofu before adding the vegetables.
  • If you prefer a sweeter flavor, add 1 teaspoon of sugar to the sauce mixture.
  • Use fresh noodles if available for a chewier texture.
