Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 cup pumpkin puree
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1/4 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  6. Stir in the cocoa powder until the batter is smooth.
  7. In a separate bowl, beat together the pumpkin puree, softened cream cheese, brown sugar, and pumpkin pie spice until smooth.
  8. Pour half of the brownie batter into the prepared baking pan.
  9. Dollop spoonfuls of the pumpkin cheesecake mixture over the brownie batter.
  10. Carefully pour the remaining brownie batter over the pumpkin mixture.
  11. Using a knife or skewer, swirl the pumpkin mixture into the brownie batter.
  12. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out with moist crumbs attached.
  13. Let the brownies cool completely in the pan before cutting and serving.

Notes

  • For extra festive brownies, you can sprinkle some cinnamon or nutmeg on top before baking.
  • Ensure your cream cheese and butter are truly softened for the smoothest cheesecake swirl.
  • Don’t overmix the brownie batter once the flour is added; this can result in tough brownies.
