- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/4 cup vegetable oil
- 2 large eggs, lightly beaten
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 1/2 cups mashed very ripe bananas (about 3-4 bananas)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, salt, and cinnamon.
- Add the melted butter, oil, eggs, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until just combined; do not overmix.
- Stir in the mashed bananas until they are incorporated into the batter.
- Fold in 3/4 cup of the chocolate chips.
- Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan. Sprinkle the remaining 1/4 cup of chocolate chips over the top.
- Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a wooden skewer inserted into the center comes out clean or with moist crumbs attached.
- Let the bread cool in the pan for 10 minutes before carefully turning it out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
- Use bananas that are heavily spotted or almost black for the best moisture and flavor.
- For extra fudgy results, use a combination of cocoa powder and melted dark chocolate in the batter.
- If the top browns too quickly during baking, loosely tent the loaf with aluminum foil for the last 15 minutes.
