  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats
  • 1/2 cup packed brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1/2 cup cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss the sliced pears with maple syrup, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Pour the pear mixture into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  3. In a separate bowl, combine the flour, rolled oats, brown sugar, and ginger.
  4. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry blender or your fingertips until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the chopped pecans if using.
  5. Evenly sprinkle the crumb topping over the pear mixture.
  6. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the pears are tender and bubbly.
