Make this quick and flavorful honey garlic shrimp served directly from the skillet with rice. This one-pan meal is ready fast for a simple weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 2 tablespoons water
  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
  • Cooked white rice, for serving
  • Fresh parsley, chopped, for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, soy sauce, water, rice vinegar, cornstarch, and red pepper flakes. Set the sauce aside.
  2. Heat the olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the shrimp to the hot skillet in a single layer. Cook for 1 to 2 minutes per side until pink. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
  4. Reduce the heat to medium. Add the minced garlic to the same skillet and cook for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Do not let the garlic burn.
  5. Pour the prepared honey garlic sauce mixture into the skillet. Bring the sauce to a simmer, stirring constantly. It will thicken quickly.
  6. Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Toss the shrimp gently to coat them completely in the thick sauce. Cook for 1 minute until the shrimp are heated through.
  7. Serve the honey garlic shrimp immediately over bowls of cooked white rice. Garnish with fresh chopped parsley.

Notes

  • For a one-pan meal, you can cook the rice separately according to package directions and stir it into the skillet with the shrimp at the very end, adding a splash more water if needed to loosen the sauce.
  • Use low-sodium soy sauce if you prefer less salt in your glaze.
  • If you do not have rice vinegar, use an equal amount of white vinegar.
