Make a bright, spicy margarita using fresh lime juice and muddled jalapeño for a balanced, tart, and hot flavor.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 oz Blanco Tequila
  • 1 oz Fresh Lime Juice
  • 0.75 oz Agave Nectar (or simple syrup)
  • 3 thin slices Fresh Jalapeño (seeds removed for less heat)
  • Coarse Salt (for rim)
  • Lime wheel (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the rim: Run a lime wedge around the rim of your serving glass. Dip the rim into coarse salt spread on a small plate. Fill the glass with ice.
  2. In a cocktail shaker, place the three jalapeño slices and the agave nectar. Muddle gently to release the oils and heat. Do not over-muddle.
  3. Add the tequila and fresh lime juice to the shaker.
  4. Fill the shaker with ice. Seal tightly and shake well until thoroughly chilled, about 15 seconds.
  5. Double strain the mixture into your prepared, ice-filled glass to remove jalapeño pulp.
  6. Garnish with a lime wheel and a thin slice of jalapeño, if desired.

Notes

  • Use Blanco (Silver) tequila for the cleanest flavor that lets the lime and jalapeño stand out.
  • Adjust the amount of agave nectar based on your preference for sweetness; start with 0.75 oz and taste before shaking.
  • For a salt rim with a kick, mix 1 part chili powder with 3 parts coarse salt.
  • This recipe is best served on the rocks. Blending may dilute the fresh flavor.
