Ingredients
Scale
1 lb large shrimp, peeled and deveined
1 tbsp olive oil
4 tbsp unsalted butter, divided
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 cup dry white wine or chicken broth
1 cup heavy cream
1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional)
2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
Salt and black pepper to taste
2 cups cooked white rice (for serving)
Instructions
Season the shrimp lightly with salt and pepper.
Heat olive oil and 1 tablespoon of butter in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the shrimp and cook for 1-2 minutes per side until pink. Remove the shrimp from the skillet and set aside.
Reduce the heat to medium. Add the remaining 3 tablespoons of butter to the skillet. Add the minced garlic and cook for about 1 minute until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
Pour in the white wine or broth and let it simmer for 2 minutes, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pan.
Stir in the heavy cream and bring the mixture to a gentle simmer. Cook for 3-4 minutes until the sauce begins to thicken slightly.
Remove the skillet from the heat. Stir in the Parmesan cheese, lemon juice, and red pepper flakes if using. Mix until the cheese is melted and the sauce is smooth. Taste and adjust seasoning with salt and pepper.
Return the cooked shrimp to the skillet. Toss gently to coat the shrimp completely in the creamy garlic sauce. Cook for 1 minute just to reheat the shrimp.
Divide the cooked white rice among serving bowls. Spoon the creamy garlic shrimp and sauce over the rice.
Garnish with fresh chopped parsley before serving.
Notes
For best results, use fresh, high-quality garlic.
Do not overcook the shrimp; they cook very quickly.
If you prefer a thicker sauce, let the cream simmer uncovered for an extra minute or two before adding the cheese.
Use Jasmine or Basmati rice for a more aromatic base.
