Prepare this simple, creamy cheese ball featuring sharp cheddar, tangy dried cranberries, and crunchy pecans. It is an excellent make-ahead appetizer for holiday gatherings or parties.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 4 oz sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1/4 cup finely chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 cup dried cranberries, finely chopped
  • 1 cup pecans, toasted and finely chopped, divided
  • Plastic wrap

Instructions

  1. In a medium bowl, combine the softened cream cheese, shredded cheddar, parsley, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until fully combined and smooth.
  2. Stir in the finely chopped dried cranberries and half of the chopped pecans into the cheese mixture.
  3. Shape the mixture into a ball using your hands or a spatula.
  4. Place the cheese ball onto a piece of plastic wrap. Wrap it tightly.
  5. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or up to 3 days, to allow it to firm up.
  6. When ready to serve, unwrap the cheese ball. Place the remaining chopped pecans on a shallow plate. Roll the chilled cheese ball in the pecans until completely coated.
  7. Serve immediately with crackers, apple slices, or vegetable sticks.

Notes

  • You can toast the pecans in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant before chopping them.
  • For easier shaping, chill the mixture for 30 minutes before forming the ball.
  • This cheese ball holds well in the refrigerator for several days, making it perfect for advance party preparation.
