- 3 cups vanilla ice cream, slightly softened
- 1/2 cup whole milk
- 1/4 cup crème de menthe syrup (or 1 teaspoon mint extract plus 1 drop green food coloring)
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup heavy whipping cream (for topping)
- 2 tablespoons powdered sugar (for topping)
- 1/4 teaspoon peppermint extract (for topping)
- 1 drop green food coloring (for topping)
- Prepare the mint whipped cream: In a chilled bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, peppermint extract, and green food coloring.
- Beat the cream mixture with an electric mixer until stiff peaks form. Set aside in the refrigerator.
- Combine the softened vanilla ice cream, whole milk, crème de menthe syrup (or extract/coloring mix), and vanilla extract in a blender.
- Blend on high speed until the mixture is completely smooth and thick. Add a splash more milk if the mixture is too thick to blend.
- Pour the shake mixture into two tall glasses.
- Top each shake generously with the prepared mint whipped cream.
- Serve immediately.
Notes
- For a thicker shake, use less milk or add a few extra scoops of ice cream.
- If you do not have crème de menthe syrup, use pure mint extract sparingly, as it is strong.
- Use high-quality vanilla ice cream for the best flavor base.
