Make this simple, no-bake Cookies and Cream Puppy Chow, also known as Oreo Muddy Buddies. This sweet snack mix uses Chex cereal coated in white chocolate and crushed cookies.

  • 6 cups Rice Chex cereal
  • 10 ounces white chocolate chips
  • 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 1/2 cups powdered sugar, divided
  • 1 cup Oreo cookies, crushed

Instructions

  1. Place the Chex cereal in a very large bowl. Set aside.
  2. In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the white chocolate chips and peanut butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring well after each, until completely smooth. This usually takes 60 to 90 seconds total.
  3. Stir the vanilla extract into the melted chocolate mixture.
  4. Pour the chocolate mixture over the cereal in the large bowl. Gently stir until all the cereal is evenly coated.
  5. Place 1 cup of the powdered sugar in a large zip-top plastic bag. Add half of the coated cereal mixture to the bag. Seal the bag and shake well until the cereal is lightly coated with sugar. Transfer the coated cereal to a large baking sheet.
  6. Repeat the previous step with the remaining cereal and powdered sugar.
  7. Spread the sugared cereal out on the baking sheet to cool slightly.
  8. Place the crushed Oreo cookies in a separate bowl. Add the cooled cereal to the bowl with the crushed cookies. Gently toss until the cereal pieces are coated with cookie crumbs.
  9. Allow the puppy chow to set completely before serving or storing.

Notes

  • Crush the Oreo cookies finely for the best coating coverage. You can use a food processor or place them in a bag and crush them with a rolling pin.
  • If you do not have peanut butter, you can substitute it with an equal amount of vegetable shortening, though the flavor will change slightly.
  • Store the finished puppy chow in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week.
