Enjoy these delightfully crispy and naturally sweet cinnamon apple chips, a perfect guilt-free snack. They are easy to make and will fill your kitchen with a comforting aroma.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large apples (Honeycrisp or Fuji recommended)
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional, for color retention)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 200°F (95°C). Line baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. Wash and core the apples. Slice them as thinly as possible, about 1/16-inch thick. A mandoline slicer is helpful for uniform thickness.
  3. If using, toss the apple slices with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together the cinnamon and nutmeg (if using).
  5. Arrange the apple slices in a single layer on the prepared baking sheets.
  6. Lightly sprinkle the cinnamon mixture over both sides of the apple slices.
  7. Bake for 2-3 hours, flipping the slices halfway through. The chips are done when they are dry and crisp.
  8. Let the chips cool completely on the baking sheets. They will become crispier as they cool.

Notes

  • For an even crispier chip, you can leave the oven door slightly ajar during the last hour of baking.
  • Store cooled apple chips in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week.
  • Experiment with different apple varieties to find your favorite flavor.
