Make this easy, layered dessert using graham crackers, vanilla pudding, and a rich chocolate glaze. It requires no oven time.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (14.4 ounce) package instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 3 cups cold milk
  • 1 (8 ounce) container frozen whipped topping, thawed
  • 1 (14 ounce) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 cup cold water
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 (14.4 ounce) boxes graham crackers

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pudding: Whisk the instant vanilla pudding mix and cold milk together in a bowl until thickened, about 2 minutes. Gently fold in the thawed whipped topping. Set aside.
  2. Prepare the chocolate glaze: In a small saucepan over medium heat, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cold water, chocolate chips, and butter. Stir constantly until the butter melts and the mixture is smooth. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract. Let the glaze cool slightly, about 10 minutes.
  3. Assemble the cake: Line the bottom of a 9×13 inch baking dish with a single layer of graham crackers.
  4. Spread half of the pudding mixture evenly over the graham crackers.
  5. Top the pudding layer with another layer of graham crackers.
  6. Spread the remaining half of the pudding mixture over the second layer of crackers.
  7. Top with a final layer of graham crackers.
  8. Pour the slightly cooled chocolate glaze evenly over the top layer of graham crackers, spreading it to cover the entire surface.
  9. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 6 hours, or preferably overnight, before slicing and serving.

Notes

  • You can use instant chocolate pudding instead of vanilla for a different flavor profile.
  • For easier slicing, run a knife under hot water before cutting the chilled cake.
  • This dessert tastes best after chilling overnight, allowing the graham crackers to soften completely.
