Make this hearty, cheesy ground beef pasta featuring a rich, homemade garlic cream sauce. This dish is satisfying comfort food perfect for a weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 12 ounces pasta (penne or rotini recommended)
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese

Instructions

  1. Brown the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat. Drain off excess fat.
  2. Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Cook for 1 minute until the garlic is fragrant.
  4. Add the beef broth to the skillet and bring to a simmer.
  5. Add the uncooked pasta to the skillet. Cover and cook according to pasta package directions, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is tender and most of the liquid is absorbed, about 10-12 minutes.
  6. Reduce the heat to low. Stir in the heavy cream and Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth.
  7. Stir in the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses until fully melted and the sauce is creamy.
  8. Serve immediately while hot and cheesy.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use fresh garlic instead of jarred minced garlic.
  • You can substitute half-and-half for heavy cream, but the sauce will be slightly thinner.
  • Use any short pasta shape that holds sauce well.
