Make this satisfying, one-dish pasta bake featuring seasoned ground beef mixed into a rich, creamy sauce, topped with melted cheese and baked until bubbly.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 (10.5 ounce) can condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni, uncooked
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the ground beef in a large skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain off any excess grease.
  3. Add the chopped onion to the skillet with the beef and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for 1 more minute until fragrant.
  4. Stir in the cream of mushroom soup, milk, sour cream, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper into the skillet. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, stirring constantly.
  5. Add the uncooked elbow macaroni to the sauce mixture in the skillet. Stir well to coat all the pasta.
  6. Stir in 1/2 cup of the cheddar cheese until melted into the sauce.
  7. Pour the entire mixture into the prepared baking dish.
  8. Sprinkle the remaining 1/2 cup cheddar cheese and the mozzarella cheese evenly over the top.
  9. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until the sauce is bubbly and the cheese topping is melted and lightly golden brown.
  10. Let the bake rest for 5 minutes before serving.

Notes

  • For extra flavor, substitute cream of mushroom soup with cream of celery soup.
  • You can use any short pasta shape you prefer, such as rotini or shells.
  • If you want a spicier dish, add 1/4 teaspoon of red pepper flakes with the seasonings.
