A simple guide to making tender inside and crispy outside sweet potato cubes using your air fryer.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 large sweet potatoes, peeled and cubed (about 1 inch pieces)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika (optional)

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut the sweet potatoes into uniform 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a medium bowl, toss the sweet potato cubes with olive oil, salt, pepper, and paprika until evenly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C) for 5 minutes.
  4. Place the seasoned sweet potato cubes in the air fryer basket in a single layer. Do not overcrowd the basket; cook in batches if necessary for best crisping.
  5. Air fry for 15 to 20 minutes, shaking the basket vigorously every 5 minutes to promote even cooking and browning.
  6. Check for doneness after 15 minutes; the cubes should be tender when pierced with a fork and crispy on the outside.
  7. Remove from the air fryer and serve immediately.

Notes

  • For extra crispiness, you can soak the cubed sweet potatoes in cold water for 30 minutes, then dry them completely before tossing with oil.
  • If you prefer a savory flavor, substitute the paprika with garlic powder and dried rosemary.
  • For a sweet coating, toss the cooked cubes with a mix of cinnamon and a small amount of brown sugar after they come out of the air fryer.
