Make crispy tofu in your air fryer and coat it with a simple sweet chili glaze for a quick, flavorful vegetarian meal.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block (14 oz) extra-firm tofu, pressed and cubed
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup sweet chili sauce
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce or tamari
  • 1 teaspoon rice vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu well to remove excess water, then cut it into 1-inch cubes.
  2. In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch, salt, and pepper until lightly coated.
  3. Preheat your air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Place the coated tofu in a single layer in the air fryer basket. Do not overcrowd.
  5. Air fry for 12 to 15 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through, until the tofu is golden brown and crispy.
  6. While the tofu cooks, whisk together the sweet chili sauce, soy sauce, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small bowl.
  7. Once the tofu is cooked, transfer it to a clean bowl.
  8. Pour the glaze over the hot tofu and toss gently until every piece is coated.
  9. Serve immediately.

Notes

  • Pressing the tofu for at least 30 minutes is key to achieving the best crispy texture.
  • For extra crispiness, you can lightly spray the tofu with cooking spray before air frying.
  • You can substitute maple syrup for a portion of the sweet chili sauce if you prefer a sweeter glaze.
